Adoption Card

One of my brothers adopted a son almost a year ago, and the final court hearing , where the adoption is officially finalised,is coming up.

I covered white card in two colours of Distress Ink and stamped the owls stamp (Aladine) twice. I cut the little owl out and stuck it on the other image with 3d foam. I inked some card in Brushed Corduroy  and cut out a branch (Leabilitie). I cut an aperture and printed a sentiment onto Safmat. I added 3d Glaze to the owls' eyes.

For a Man

You know, I looked at some of the cards my partner has received for his birthday tomorrow and thought...'you could just as easily put 'happy retirement' on the front'! While my partner is not a young man, he is a long way from retirement and is the active daddy of a six-year-old...My mission has become to make a card that does not scream 'past it'!

I used the X-cut Build a Scene hot air balloon dies. There are a lot of bits to be cut out here (and have plenty of waxed paper handy!) The papers for the balloon and all its trimmings are from Basic Grey '
Nook and Pantry' range and the cloud background is October Afternoon. I used a circular sentiment stamp from My Sentiments Exactly and some yellow and red gems - he's man enough to enjoy a bit of bling on his card!

By Royal Decree

This week's theme at CD Sunday , Majesty, is quite a tricky one for me, and by the time I had thought of my idea, I didn't think I'd have time to make it. But here I am, awake in the night and posting my card!

I used My Craft Studio 'A Very Important Date'  and I did two layers of decoupage on the rabbit. I used the text feature to type 'By Royal Decree...' and I will decide what the decree is at a later date by writing inside : 'have a happy birthday ' or 'you are invited...'

Now, back to bed....!

Inkspirational Challenges 17 - Through Rain or Shine

This week we have a sketch for you at Inkspirational Challenges.

As you can see, I flipped the sketch around so the focal point is on the right. I stamped the edges with one of my new favourites, a Hampton Art numbers stamp, using masking to get a patchy effect.
The girl is by Art Journey - I stuck her on with 3d foam and used 3d Glaze to make her umbrella shiny. The sentiment is by Unity Stamps . It originally said - Through Rain or Shine, you'll always be mine - but I thought the second half limited its uses so I cut it off! Now, I would happily use it for a friend.

What can you do with this sketch? We have lots of Design Team inspiration and a great prize from Rubberstamp Tapestry, so come over and join us at Inkspirational Challenges.

{Pin}spirational Challenges 54- Butterflies

This week's picture inspiration at Pinspirational Challenges Is :
I used a butterfly image from our sponsor Cardmadfairy, printed it on orange card and cut it our. I stamped dotty swirls on them and added pink glitter. Then I attached them to skewers.

I thought they would be good to decorate the garden at a sumer party. The sun in my photo is decptive though- it was freezing when I took this and the sun had only made a brief appearance! Hopefully the weathers on the way up now.

How does the picture inspire you? Come and join us at Pinspirational Challenges!

Thank you fairy much!

This card is to thank all the fantastic people who take the time to visit my blog. Your visits are really appreciated!

The central panel was designed in Docrafts Digital Designer. I used 4 elements from the Papermania Enchanted CD ( large flower, background, sentiment and fairy). I mounted the whole thing onto navy card, shimmery paper and a card blank. I added stickles and gems.

Tea for Two

I spent the weekend at a 'retreat' with my local scrapbooking group and had a fantastic time - loads of food, great company and lots of fab challenges. One challenge was that we were given a bag of random stash and had to use 3 items on a layout. In fact, all five papers I used here were from the bag.  This photo was taken in December at a hotel. That's me with the red shirt! The flowers ,butterfly, border etc were punched or die-cut. The tea cup (a Craft Stamper freebie) was stamped twice - I stamped one copy with a pattern , cut out the cup and layered it onto the saucer. Then I added 3d Glaze.

It's time for a new challenge at Pinspirational Challenges  and here's the inspiration picture:
This week, Fred She Said is one of our sponsors and they provided the lovely digi of the girl and the leaves. The cup and the scrabble letters are printable freebies, source unknown.
Two comments about my card - yes, I know it's a bit unseasonal ( Hi to all our friends in Australia!) and yes, I know 'fall' is an American word (Hi USA!)- it just fit better -  and so , all in all , an odd card for an English woman!

Do take another look at the picture. What ideas does it give you. Please come and join in at Pinspirational Challenges.

Pimp My Washing Line

Whoops - dropped my camera , broke it and have had to borrow a rubbishy one, so apologies for the poor photos.

Here's some pegs I've decorated to funk up my washing - just have to make sure it doesn't rain while they're pinning my whites.

I used pigment inks and a mask (Studio Calico, I think). There's a bit of Glimmer Mist on some of them too.

Inkspirational Challenge 15 - Photo Inkspiration

Here's this week's photo at Inkspirational Challenges:
For my card I used my craft CDs . The (pre-coloured) image is from Papermania Tulip and friends CD. I made the backing paper in Docrafts Digital Designer, using a blossom image from MCS Qunitessential Country Garden and repeating it. I hope the overall effect is pink and blossom-y, which is what the photo said to me!

{Pin}spirational Challenge 52 - Rainy Day

Here's this week's picture inspiration at Pinspirational Challenges :
We're sponsored this week by Bugaboo Stamps and I have used one of their images. Fo my background I used a journalling spot from a scrapbooking paper pack. I'm often stuck for ideas on how to use these, so I'm quite pleased I used it. I coloured the image with Promarkers and paper-pieced with some scrap paper. I added raindrop shaped gems.

At the Salon Deco

Here's Vera, turned up at the Salon Deco in her skimpiest outfit, hoping to see her young man....only to spy him through the window with another girl!

This is (unmistakably) Debbi Moore, from the Art Deco CD. That window was originally a door, so I cut it out and stuck part of a  die cut window frame behind. Then I printed off a party scene, small enough to be in proportion (I hope). Then I chucked loads of glitter at it.

Another great challenge at CD Sunday - I always have fun joining in.

Priceless

Here's a project that turned out somewhat different to what I envisaged! I was inspired by the photo at 'Inspired by' challenge and was going to make a tag in the style of a price tag with brightly coloured wellies on it. As you can see, somewhere I was led astray.

I used craft cardstock and a tag die. The main image is from A Day for Daisies and I cropped it and kept just the lower half. I used  a um measure stamp (brand unknown) for the background and the words 'Priceless' and 'Beyond measure' are by 7 Gypsies. I used scraps of Authentique paper to paper-piece.

I might go back and try again on the brightly coloured wellies! Meanwhile, as well as Inspired By, I'd like to enter this for:

End of week encouragement -Inkspirational Challenge 14

This is my End of the Week Encouragement project for the Inkspiration Challenges design team. This week, we have a colour challenge and here are the colours:
I dug out 3 pots of acrylic paint that matched the colour inkspiration and slapped them haphazardly onto white card. (Oh the sophistication of the technique!) The stamps are from a set that I won from the Creative Card Crew Challenge - they are by Crafty Secrets and there are lots of separate elements that can be mixed and matched. The sentiment is from a Papermania/ Forever Friends set and I added lots of little gems.

This month we are sponsored by Rubber Stamp Tapestry.  Some of the DT have made beautiful projects using their stamps, so come over to Inkspirational Challenges and take a look. Why not join us and use the colours for your own project?

Suitcase Tag

While I was making this tag, I realised that my hands were covered in red ink. How come???? I haven't used any red ink for two days and I've washed a few times since then(honest)!

For this tag I used an Inkadinkadoo stamp with map paper and a little bit of washi tape from Papermania All Aboard collection.

Reading Record

My six-year-old son loves to be read to, but hates reading.Honestly, the tantrums we get when we try to get him to read! I'm always trying to find ways to motivate him and this is my latest scheme. The idea is to get him to record everything he reads over the current holiday and fill in the spaces.

As soon as I saw this new digi from Jellypark, I had to have it. The papers are from Cosmo Cricket 'Jack's World' (I've used this range so much, it's mostly scraps left.)

Embossed Christmas

Well, it may be April but the only showers we are getting are snow showers. While it's 'always winter and never Christmas', I have made a Christmas card!

I used Coredinations cardstock and embossed some music and some ivy (a Sheena Douglas folder, free with a mag) , which I cut out. The reindeer is a chipboard sticker by Prima.

I used Fired Brick distress inks and stamps by Judikins,  Bo Bunnyand Non-Sequitur (the text) . The Paris background stamp is printed from Papermania Capsule Collection CD and coloured with the same distress ink. I added sparkly diamond stickers.

Here's the inspiration photo:

Paper-pieced Geishas

If you've ever visited my blog before, you might have noticed that I love paper-piecing; it's far and away my favourite technique.

Here I used 3 different patterned papers from a DCWV paper stack , plus plain black and white card. The stamp is an UM rubber stamp I've had for years - sorry can't remember who made it. I stamped the geishas onto a crackle pattern paper and then paper-pieced the cloth on the bench and the padded bits at the back of their kimono's (which I stuck on with 3d foam) The base paper is slightly textured so their hair looked a bit patchy, so I stamped and embossed it on white card, cut it out and stuck it on.I embellished with dragonfly charms.
